My little boy loves the water and regularly lobbies Ernie Hemingway and me for a pool in our yard. That will never happen, as we’ve both had lots of adventures caring for in-ground pools and don’t care to add to our tally, but as a concession we’ve designed a motley water slide path involving his play set slide, a blow-up wading pool, and a Slip ‘n Slide.
As today is the fourth of July holiday, we planned to spend the day cooling off in the yard, hanging around at our suburban “oasis” instead of at the over-populated pool at our local club (plus, we can run on the pool deck!). However, as Hurricane Arthur is barreling up the east coast and pretty much destroying everyone’s plans for this holiday, I’m posting photos of last weekend’s fun in the sun.
Although Arthur has washed out the celebrations for today, we were able to get in a fireworks display last night, and I decided to try out my hand at photographing them. The results weren’t as bad as I expected. I even got some interesting effects.
Happy Fourth of July!
